Welsh gold jeweller sponsors festival

Thursday 28th 2007f June, 2007
Jewellery company Clogau Gold has agreed a sponsorship for Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival, it has been revealed.

Wales' Western Mail reports that performers at the festival will include pop band Girls Aloud, Shayne Ward and Jamelia.

Ben Roberts of Clogau Gold - whose gold is sourced from local Snowdonia - commented that there were several factors behind the jeweller's decision to sponsor the event, noting that Wales is its strongest market.

Meanwhile, the newspaper reports that singer Bryn Terfel has an historic association with the jeweller after Clogau Gold fashioned him a special Welsh gold daffodil pin, which the baritone wears at his concerts.

"I treasure my special Clogau Gold daffodil pin - it appears with me on every concert platform, and everywhere I go, people ask about it," he told the Western Mail.

Clogau Gold has a history of association with the royal family. Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales have wedding rings crafted from gold extracted from the Clogau St. David's Mine.
