Dubai's Gold Souq is preparing to join the city's jewellery trade in celebrating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Day, according to dubaicityguide.com.
The celebrations, which are taking place all weekend to celebrate the 36th UAE National Day on December 2nd, are organised in part by the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, which is encouraging jewellers in the city to decorate their shops with the colours of the UAE flag.
"Gold Souq, which has traditionally been the nerve centre of Dubai's jewellery trade, has developed side by side with the nation, maintaining its traditional aura," said Laila Suhail, head of public relations for the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group.
"The joyful atmosphere in the Gold Souq reflects the positive outlook of Dubai's multicultural jewellery trade community in the future of the UAE," she continued.
According to the tourism website, there are more than 275 shops selling gold jewellery within the Gold Souq, which is contained within an area measuring half a square kilometre.
