Sewa River project is set to begin

Thursday 28th 2008f August, 2008
Sierra Gold Corporation is launching its operation on the Sewa River in Sierra Leone, it has announced.

Using equipment that can handle up to 50 tons an hour, the company hopes to dramatically increase the gold bearing material that it processes.

The commencement of work in the area follows preliminary testing to confirm the presence of gold.

A newly-purchased eight-inch dredge has been brought in to the area to assist with the project.

Chief executive officer Doug Evans said that the machinery will "allow the company to move to another level of gold production".

He added: "We are excited about the expansion to the Sewa River and the opportunity to be able to mine throughout the year."

Cluff Gold, based in London, recently announced the acquisition of a 40 per cent stake in the Sierra Leone Baomahun gold project, as reported by Mining Weekly.
