Gold 'seen as among strongest areas of antiques market'

Professionals working within the art and antiques market view gold as one of the top performing areas of their industry, it has been claimed.The latest survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has revealed that despite the global economic downturn, the sector has remained resilient.
According to the Guardian, jewellery was found to be one of the best value categories across the market due to the rise in price of precious metals.
Meanwhile, the majority of respondents to the poll revealed that, in their opinion, gold, silver and jewellery were the top performing areas.
Oriental art and ceramics were also cited as buoyant investments.
Elsewhere, Angelina Jolie recently bought a gold bracelet worth £10,000 from British designer Ana De Costa, Professional Jeweller reported.
The yellow gold piece is set with tsavorites.
Brad Pitt was also seen at a premier this week wearing a gold chain and pendant.
