The Celtic Jewellery Site is now including valuable Welsh gold in its collections.

Clogau welsh gold is a metal favoured by the Royal family for their wedding bands, according to the firm, which is using the material to make Celtic necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets.

It adds that it is "very likely" that should Prince William propose to his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton he will present her with a Clogau gold ring on the day they exchange nuptials.

Indeed, the metal is much sought after due to its purity and value, it claims.

The first Royal wedding band to be made from the metal was in 1923, when the late Queen Mother and King George VI had rings made for them from a nugget from the Clogau gold mine.

This same nugget has been used to make numerous wedding bands since then, the Celtic Jewellery Site notes.

Elsewhere, the Guardian recently reported that research by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has found Welsh gold to be among the strongest performing areas in the arts and antiques market.
